There is something for everyone at Sustainability Week 2022
Sustainability Week at QUT has events, activities, maker activities, markets, panel discussions, tours and more. There are opportunities to see how sustainability is being applied in all faculties, across research and teaching, and, on campus. We invite you to participate in activities, talk to makers, ask questions, start conversations, view showcases at the CUBE, listen, and learn.

The transition to a circular economy is underway across all sectors – learn how researchers, industry and community are collaborating, and join us for short talks and posters on research for a more just and sustainable world.
The symposium features a keynote from circular economy and sustainability change agent Professor Jacqueline Cramer.
This symposium is led by QUT's Centre for a Waste Free World, with thanks to QUT's Centre for Justice and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Australia.

An open discussion forum about ways in which we could improve healthy and sustainable food approaches at QUT’s campuses.
Guest presenters will provide details on the experience of other universities and QUT researchers will discuss current progress at QUT. Presentations will be followed by an opportunity to share your thoughts in discussion with the panel of presenters.

"Addressing Harmonics Issues of Grids with High Penetration of Grid-Connected Power Converters: calibration and measurement."
Our first speaker Professor Firuz Zare will talk about how penetration of grid-connected renewable energy systems and smart loads based on high-frequency power electronics converters (such as solar inverters, wind turbines and variable speed motor drive systems) has been increasing in low and medium-voltage power networks.
Dr Ilya Budovsky, our second speaker, will discuss how Rapid growth of sustainable sources of energy and energy-efficient appliances necessitates reliable measurement of increasingly complex voltage and current waveforms in medium and high-voltage electrical networks.

Our expert panel, lead by manufacturing expert Shay Chalmers, will talk about how advanced manufacturing (and in particular cobotics and associated technology) can lead to a more sustainable manufacturing industry. For example, through:
- improved manufacturing processes resulting in energy savings
- adoption of ‘circular’ manufacturing processes
- reduction in reliance on global supply chains
- less waste to landfill through process optimisation.

The Adobe Creative Challenge is led by Adobe and Visual Communications in the QUT School of Design.
Students will work with a team (between 2-5) to design and share a digital solution to a problem based around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The final visual design solutions will be showcased during an online event that all are invited to attend.

The Cross River Rail Experience Centre is a community engagement and education hub developed in partnership with Queensland Museum, providing detailed project information, digital engagement experiences, and learning opportunities for visiting members. This Faculty of Engineering sustainable event at The CCR Experience centre unlocks the sustainable design and engineering elements of this critical Queensland public transport infrastructure project which will improve our quality of life, help our economy keep growing, generate thousands of jobs, and activate urban development across the whole region.

"Attenborough and the Environment: Do nature documentaries really help sustainability?"
Queensland filmmaker and biologist, Dr. Chadden Hunter has spent the last 20 years working alongside Sir David Attenborough directing the world’s most famous nature films. Join him for a fascinating multimedia journey through the secrets of wildlife filmmaking during QUT’s Sustainability Week 2022. Along the way he’ll share never before seen footage and ask thought-provoking questions about whether glossy nature shows actually do anything for global sustainability.
