Biography
Research theme: HealthResearch discipline: Cell and Molecular Biosciences
Research area
- The role of the EphB4 receptor tyrosine kinase in epithelial cancers
The EphB4 receptor tyrosine kinase is over-expressed in cancer cells and contributes to tumour development by promoting angiogenesis, increasing cancer cell survival, and facilitating invasion and migration. Evidence points strongly to the fact that EphB4 is a good target for the development of anti-cancer therapies, so a major aim of our research is to develop monoclonal antibody strategies to target EphB4 in breast and prostate cancers. Related research studies will improve our understanding of the biology of this important cancer-related protein.
