Biography
Ms Emma Petherick is the Vice-President Strategy and Investment at QUT, leading the Strategy and Investment portfolio.Emma brings more than 20 years of experience in strategy, transformation, and leadership, including a distinguished career at McKinsey & Company. As a partner and founder of McKinsey’s Brisbane office, she played a pivotal role in growing the regional practice and served on the Australia/New Zealand executive team. Her work has spanned McKinsey offices in London, New York, Melbourne and Brisbane, and she has led major strategy and performance transformations for public sector and non-profit institutions, across the healthcare, education and energy sectors, within Australia and internationally.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland, where she was awarded the University Medal. She also holds a Master of Development Economics (Hons) from the University of Oxford.
Outside of McKinsey, Emma has held roles in a number of non-profit organisations, including St Vincents Healthcare Australia and Ark (Absolute Return for Kids), and served on the board of the Cathy Freeman Foundation (now Murrup).
Having grown up in Far North and Central Queensland, she brings a strong connection to the state and is looking forward to contributing to our strategic direction and long-term success.
