Dr Denise Gibran Nogueira

Biography
Denise is a researcher and sessional academic with extensive professional experience. Her research is grounded in a deep commitment to sustainability and social justice, and a curiosity for how economic and policy systems can be reimagined and reviewed to foster inclusive and transformative change. In her PhD, Denise explored how diverse social finance arrangements of community organisations affect social change outcomes.As a sessional academic, Denise is deeply committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Her teaching interests involve sustainability, social justice, innovation, and responsible management.
She has been involved in different research projects and also worked as HDR coordinator for the QUT Centre for Decent Work and Industry. For her work as HDR coordinator, in 2023, Denise received the Inclusive and Empowering Environment Award, offered by the Faculty of Business and Law.
Denise has extensive professional experience working in senior positions in different countries and various industries (banking, development agencies, co-operatives, and not-for-profits), advancing and integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) matters into organisational and industry practices and policies.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Management completed overseas and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and a PhD from QUT.
