On 24 November 2025, QUT entered into an Enforceable Undertaking with the Fair Work Ombudsman following the university’s voluntary disclosure in 2021 of payroll contraventions.

QUT values the contributions of its staff and sincerely and has unreservedly apologised for these errors. The university is committed to resolving these issues and ensuring all staff are paid appropriately and receive their full entitlements.

A dedicated independent employee hotline has been established for current and former staff to seek information or raise concerns.

Past announcements

In early 2025 the University engaged the Honourable John Middleton AM KC to undertake a review into the National Symposium on Unifying Anti-Racist Research and Action and associated events hosted by the Carumba Institute.

On 23 July 2025, QUT released the findings of the Middleton Review and committed to implementing all recommendations. QUT’s statement in response to the review is available here:
