The Faculty of Health recently announced the 2024 recipients of its Faculty Recognition Program.
The Faculty Recognition Program recognises the outstanding contributions made by QUT Health staff over the past 12 months, that have enabled the Faculty to deliver on its vision and strategic goals. Thank you to UniSuper, sponsor of this year's Faculty of Health Recognition Program.
Distinguished Professor Patsy Yates, Executive Dean, Faculty of Health said, “the Faculty Recognition Program is an important annual activity that acknowledges and celebrates the efforts and achievements of our academic and professional staff members”.
This year, more than 100 nominations were received across 12 categories, signifying the extent of excellence and impact across the Faculty’s Schools, Centres and Professional Services, as well as the challenging task faced by the selection panels in determining this year’s recipients.
2024 award categories and recipients include:
Educator of the Year - Awarded to an academic staff member who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in learning and teaching to provide high quality and impactful outcomes for the student learning experience. Claire Ting
Early/Mid-Career Educator of the Year - Awarded to an early or mid-career academic staff member who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in learning and teaching to provide high quality and impactful outcomes for the student learning experience. Jack Potter
Sessional Educator of the Year - Awarded to a sessional staff member who has demonstrated high quality learning and teaching experiences that support student learning and improve educational outcomes. Carla Da Silva Pessoa Vieira
Researcher of the Year - Awarded to an academic staff member who has contributed to excellence in research impact and outcomes. Associate Professor Luis Pedro Fragao Bento Coelho
Early/Mid-Career Researcher of the Year - Awarded to an early or mid-career academic staff member who has contributed to excellence in research impact and outcomes. Dr Grace Xu
Service Excellence - Awarded to a professional staff member who has demonstrated service excellence in the design and or delivery of processes, systems and services that have had a positive impact on our students, staff or community. Robyn Sutton
Trailblazer of the Year – Awarded to a professional staff member who has demonstrated creative and innovative thinking to advance goals in their work area and or the Faculty. Dr Jacky Sit
Rising Star of the Year – Awarded to a professional staff member [HEW3-6] who has demonstrated quality performance, dedication to their work and personal growth in their role. Natalie Pye
Health, Safety and Wellbeing Champion of the Year - Awarded to a staff member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of members of the Faculty. Jose Malayil
Outstanding Contributions to Indigenous Australian Engagement, Success and Empowerment - Awarded to a staff member who has demonstrated meaningful and collaborative contributions to normalising First Australian knowledges and pedagogies and/or demonstrated commitment to inclusion and recognition of Indigenous Australians in the QUT community and/or demonstrated outstanding innovation and creative commitment to positively impact Indigenous Australian health and wellbeing. Outstanding Contributions to External Partnerships and Health/Social Impact - Awarded to a staff member who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to improve external partnerships or connections that have had a positive health/social impact on a community. Associate Professor Francesca Frentiu
Carla Patterson Publication Award for Research Impact – Recognises high-ranking journal articles first-authored by Faculty of Health staff that have the potential to improve human health and make a significant impact on health and medical research. The Carla Patterson Publication Award has been established in memory of Dr Carla Patterson, who dedicated her life to public health research at QUT. Dr Megan Crichton for Effect of a Standarized Ginger Root Powder Regimen on Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting: A Multicenter, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Randomized Trial
