Eligibility details
You must:
- be graduating Year 12, or have had no more than 2 gap years since graduating high school
- have an OP 1 or 2 (or equivalent)
- be able to demonstrate leadership qualities, community service, and extracurricular activities.
You must also be one of the following:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen
- a permanent resident
- the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- an international student who has completed high school in Australia.

What you receive
You'll receive one of:
- 70 scholarships worth $25,000 (paid at approximately $6,000 per year for up to four years)
- 35 scholarships worth $6,500 scholarships (paid at approximately $2,000 per semester over 1.5 years).

How to apply
Part 1: Complete the online application form
You'll need to create a username and password.
Continue your saved application.
Part 2: Attach your supporting documents
Complete the Supporting Documentation coversheet (DOC file, 80 KB) and attach your supporting documents as directed.
The documents you should include are:
- two written referee reports
- awards or achievements
- acknowledgements
- sporting achievements (if applying as an elite athlete).

What happens next
We will assess all scholarship applications between 19 November-18 December 2012. We'll assess applications primarily on academic merit, but also on your leadership qualities, community service, extra-curricular activities and referees reports.
We will make first offers for scholarships between 19-21 December 2012. We will make second round offers between 16-18 January 2013. We will finalise all scholars by 4 February 2013. The Scholarships Officer will contact you if you're successful.
If you are awarded a scholarship, you'll be invited to attend the College of Excellence Retreat from 13-15 February 2013.
If you aren't successful in your application, there is no appeals process.
Conditions
To keep your scholarship, you must:
- maintain a GPA of 5.00 or higher
- remain enrolled full-time.
You can:
- take a leave of absence for up to 12 months, but only after you have completed one full-time semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during this time.
You can't:
- defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you can reapply for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship the following year, provided that you haven't undertaken university study in the meantime
- hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship.
