A primitive intelligence interacting with a human.
This video artwork by Justine Emard explores an interaction between two different forms of intelligences: human and machine. Communicating using body movements and spoken language the robot Alter (developed by Ishiguro lab, Osaka University and Ikegami Lab, Tokyo university) interacts with Japanese performer Mirai Moriyama. Alter is animated by a form of primitive intelligence based on a neuronal system, a deep learning system that enables the robot to learn from its interactions with its environment. In this video we see the human and the robot try to define new perspectives of coexistence in the world.
Artist Justine Emard explores the new relationships that are being established between humans and technology. She places her work at the intersection of robotics, objects, organic life and artificial intelligence. Her artworks are based on experiences of Deep-Learning and dialogue between man and machine. Since 2016, she has been collaborated with scientific laboratories in Japan.
