What you'll receive

You'll receive:

  • a scholarship valued at $6,000 paid over two years.

Other benefits include:

  • membership of the Science and Engineering Women in IT program
  • access to QUT's Leadership, Development and Innovation Program.


You must:

  • have competed Year 12 (or a gap year) in 2019
  • be starting university for the first time in 2020
  • identify as female
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident
  • have achieved a minimum, unadjusted OP 5 (or equivalent unadjusted ATAR)
  • have placed QUT as your first preference
  • be applying to start one of:

Eligible applicants will:

  • be keen to foster growth and recognition of the contribution of female technologists to the profession and the broader community
  • be able to effectively balance study with other pursuits
  • be able to increase diversity and support, and influence others to achieve greater things
  • work well and communicate easily with their peers, in teams and with others in the technology community
  • be committed to personal awareness and growth.

How to apply

Applications open on 1 August 2019 and close on 15 November 2019.

To apply, you must:

  1. Complete the Women in Information Technology questionnaire (DOCX file, 33.9 KB).
  2. Start a new application and upload your completed questionnaire. You can also continue a saved application.

What happens next?

We will assess applications based on our selection criteria. We'll only notify successful applicants.

There will be two rounds of offers:

  • First round offers will be made to applicants who have put QUT as their first course preference. We'll make offers in January 2020.
  • Second round offers will be made after the acceptance cut-off date for round one.

A scholarship offer does not mean that you're automatically accepted into the course you've applied for. You still have to apply and be accepted through QTAC.


You must:

  • be enrolled full-time in an eligible course for the duration of your studies
  • achieve a minimum course grade point average (GPA) of 4 each semester
  • play a leadership role by actively participating in the Women in IT program's activities and events.

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer
  • hold any other scholarship except an Equity Scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact the Science and Engineering Faculty.
