What you'll receive

You'll receive:

  • a scholarship valued at $6,000 paid over two years.

Other benefits include:

  • membership of the Science and Engineering Women in IT program
  • access to QUT's Leadership, Development and Innovation program.

Eligibility

You must:

  • have competed Year 12 (or a gap year) in 2020
  • be starting university for the first time in 2021
  • identify as female
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident
  • have achieved a minimum, unadjusted ATAR 92.00 (OP 1-5 for 2019 QLD graduates)
  • have placed QUT as your first preference
  • be applying to start one of:

Eligible applicants will:

  • be keen to foster growth and recognition of the contribution of female technologists to the profession and the broader community
  • be able to effectively balance study with other pursuits
  • be able to increase diversity and support, and influence others to achieve greater things
  • work well and communicate easily with their peers, in teams and with others in the technology community
  • be committed to personal awareness and growth.

What happens next?

We will assess applications based on our selection criteria. We'll only notify successful applicants.

There will be two rounds of offers:

  • first round offers will be made to applicants who have put QUT as their first course preference. We'll make offers in January 2021
  • second round offers will be made after the acceptance cut-off date for round one.

A scholarship offer does not mean that you're automatically accepted into the course you've applied for. You still have to apply and be accepted through QTAC.

Conditions

You must:

  • be enrolled full-time in an eligible course for the duration of your studies
  • achieve a minimum course grade point average (GPA) of 4 each semester
  • play a leadership role by actively participating in the Women in IT program's activities and events.

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer
  • hold any other scholarship except an Equity Scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact the Science and Engineering Faculty.

The Women in Information Technology scholarship is available to support high-achieving female students enrolling in an information technology degree.
