It incorporates studies of the dynamic relationships between people, products/artefacts and systems, and their contextual environment. The unit addresses the ways research about people can contribute to product innovation, as well as how to integrate the applied research skills and knowledge that support the development of an innovative product or system proposal. It covers: human-centred innovation framework application of qualitative research methods to industrial design; situating product/systems within the socio-cultural context; and communication of research outcome.
