Events

Events are a great way to connect with and celebrate the QUT community. Each year, we hold several events - open to all our students - which are designed to celebrate our diverse student community.

Official Welcome Party

Start the year at our official welcome during O-Week: a massive celebration featuring a free concert from Australian and local Brisbane bands.

QUT Ball

The annual QUT Ball recognises the achievements of student volunteers through a formal dinner and entertainment exploring cultures and eras of the world.

New Year Water Festival

Explore different cultures through festivals and celebrations throughout the year hosted by some of our international and cultural student clubs. The New Year Water Festival is celebrated in Cambodian, Lao, Thai, Yunnan and Sri Lanka, and you'll get to learn and experience these different cultures through food and other festivities.

QUT Classic

Join over 1,000 runners at the annual QUT Classic, fundraising for our Learning Potential Fund. Choose from 1km, 5km and 10km scenic routes around Brisbane.

Reconciliation activities

Learn about, experience and celebrate the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through activities during Reconciliation and NAIDOC week activities.

QUT Dragon Boat Regatta

Each year, several teams take to the Brisbane River to race in the QUT Dragon Boat Regatta. This fun day out featuring live entertainment, dance performances and fun attractions.

East West Fest

Celebrate culture and diversity through food, music and dance at the annual East West Fest - a three day festival across all three campuses, featuring live cultural performances, food stalls and workshops and activities hosted by student clubs.

TEDxQUT

In September we hold a one-minute-pitch competition for our students, where you could have the opportunity to share the stage with impressive speakers at TEDxQUT. Share bold and new ideas with your university community.

Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is the second largest festival celebrated in South-East Asia. Our on-campus celebrations feature lion dances, traditional and modern cultural performances, free moon-cake tasting, and Chinese calligraphy workshops.
