This course provides a comprehensive overview of the different aspects of managing occupational health and safety (OHS) at an enterprise level. The course focuses on various OHS management approaches, the role and requirements of relevant standards, and major OHS management areas, including risk management, safe design and OHS performance, emergency preparedness, investigations, auditing and culture.

This offering will be delivered virtually via Zoom/Collaborative Ultra. To effectively participate you will need a stable internet connection that can sustain video conferencing for lengths of time.

- Lectures: Thursdays 5.00pm to 8.00pm AEST | 11/03/2021, 25/03/2021, 15/04/2021, 29/04/2021, 13/05/2021, 27/05/2021 | Lectures will also be delivered face-to-face for participants who wish to attend them at the Kelvin Grove campus.

Online Access
Content will be delivered through a blend of live and pre-recorded sessions which can accessed through Blackboard (QUT’s online learning platform). Blackboard provides the opportunity to consolidate learning through peer collaboration and discussion with course convenors.
The time commitment is estimated at 4.5 hours a week over 13 weeks for attendance and self-study, and up to nine hours a week for completing the assessments over the same period. For participants who choose to undertake the optional assessment module, please note that the second assessment is an exam that will take place in mid-June.
Online access will be available up until Friday 4 June 2021. For registrations after Thursday 18 February 2021 please allow at least 2 business days to be granted online access.

This course offers an optional assessment module, comprised of a essay/report on a current OHS topic and end of semester examination. On successful completion of the assessment module, participants will be eligible to apply for advanced standing for the corresponding unit in related Health, Safety & Environment award courses at QUT or other educational institutions subject to their policies.
This program is shared by postgraduate students, and may involve some collaboration between professional development participants and postgraduate students.
