Controlling emergencies, outbreaks, infections and diseases

Gerry's principal research focus is on emergency healthcare systems and how they perform under both routine and non-routine pressures. He has published over 100 peer reviewed articles, a text in Disaster Health Management, eight book chapters and more than 100 conference presentations. His implementation and evaluation of a novel triage system was the basis for the Australasian Triage Scale which has been the cornerstone of ED operations for more than twenty years.

Michelle's research interests focus primarily on mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria. Recent research projects include modelling the transmission of drug-resistance malaria parasites, quantifying the impact of malaria control activities, and investigating parasite dormancy following treatment with the artemisinin class of drugs.
