Associate Professor Reece Hinchcliff is a health services researcher and educator whose work aims to strengthen global health systems. During 2019 he supported international students in QUT's Master of Health Management to develop a new community health clinic in Mexico that provides free consultations to low-income families.
Building inclusive communities
Dr Lisa Stafford is a social scientist, human geographer and social planner whose passion is in inclusive communities. She was recently awarded the highly competitive Australian Research Council – DECRA Fellowship 2019 for her project exploring inclusive community planning for people with disabilities in regional areas.
Reducing the impact of fatty liver disease
Dr David Brain and colleagues received a $1 million Medical Research Future Fund grant to trial the establishment of mobile clinics in four regional and one inner city QLD clinic, to better triage mild and severe cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Improved management of the disease through community-based clinics, rather than via hospital-based specialist appointments, is expected to significantly reduce the current $51 billion spent per year in Australia on liver disease.
