Fast access to UTI medication
Community pharmacists can now provide immediate and optimal care to anyone presenting with symptoms of an uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI), thanks to a program headed by QUT pharmacy Professor Lisa Nissen. The Urinary Tract Infection Pharmacy Pilot – Queensland is being conducted by Professor Nissen with researchers from the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (QLD), the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (QLD), James Cook University, Griffith University, the University of Queensland and international partners from the University of Alberta and the University of Otago and the University of Auckland.
Easier access to vaccinations
In Australia, vaccinations by pharmacists are now commonplace in the community because of research led by Professor Lisa Nissen as part of a Queensland-wide professional collaboration. The Queensland Pharmacist Immunisation Pilot (QPIP) enabled policy, practice and regulatory changes in the health system to occur to achieve this important outcome.
