What you'll receive
You will receive:
- an additional fee scholarship of 25% of your tuition fees for your first two semesters of study at QUT and
- an additional ongoing fee scholarship of 25% per semester at QUT, provided you meet the academic conditions.
This fee scholarship is a top-up to the 25% fee scholarship received from the International Merit Scholarship. In total you will receive a 50% fee scholarship each semester.
Other benefits may include:
- membership of the QUT College of Excellence
- access to QUT's Leadership, Development and Innovation Program.
Eligibility
You must:
- be a Sri Lankan citizen
- have been offered the International Merit Scholarship for Semester 1, 2020 in one of the listed eligible bachelor degrees
- have a minimum of 3 A grades (GCE A-level).

- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
- Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments
- Bachelor of Information Technology
- Bachelor of Mathematics
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Information Technology
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments/Bachelor of Mathematics
- Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Mathematics
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Information Technology
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Mathematics
How to apply
You must:
- complete and submit your application online by 3 January 2020
- ensure your application addresses the selection criteria:
- academic merit
- extra-curricular activities and awards
- voluntary community experience
- career aspirations (and how a QUT degree will benefit).
As this online application form cannot be saved and edited later, make sure you have prepared your responses to each of the above criteria before starting the application.
What happens next?
This scholarship is competitive. After the application closing date, our panel will assess each application against the selection criteria and all applications.
The selection is to be finalised by mid-January 2020, and we will contact you if you're successful.
If you aren't successful in your application, there is no appeals process.
Only students who are successful in being offered a scholarship are notified.
Conditions
To keep your scholarship, you must:
- maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 5.5 (7 point scale) or higher each semester, and
- successfully complete each unit.
You can't:
- defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you can reapply for a STEM Excellence Scholarship the following year, provided it is offered.
- hold any other fee scholarship, except an International Merit Scholarship.
About the scholarship
The STEM Excellence Scholarship is an exclusive offering for high achievers, sponsored by the Science and Engineering Faculty.
In addition to the financial support, the program helps you to make the most of your QUT experience through extra development opportunities, which build your leadership skills and professional networks.
