What you'll receive
- a tuition fee scholarship for the duration of your course
- a guaranteed QUT Equity Scholarship - a minimum of $3,500 for one year
- an Equity computer on commencement at QUT.
You must be a holder of one of the following Australian visas:
- Bridging Visa ‘E’ (subclass 050)
- Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785)
- Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790)
You must also be:
- from a low-income background
- experiencing financial hardship
- applying to study an undergraduate degree full-time or part-time internally at QUT, starting in Semester 1, 2021.
We also take personal hardship into consideration when assessing applications. This includes:
- personal medical conditions
- dependants with special needs.
Please be aware that if you enrol in a course (full-time or part-time), you may lose any government income support you currently receive.
Your tuition fee scholarship will cease if your residency status changes to a category allowing you to access a Commonwealth Supported Place and the HECS-HELP loan scheme. You will still be eligible to apply to the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme.

Complete and submit the application form and all supporting documentation.
If you submit your application and all documentation by 15 January 2021, we'll let you know the outcome by 29 January 2021.
Important - applying for a place at QUT
In addition to completing the application form and supplying the supporting documentation, you must apply for and be granted admission into an internal undergraduate degree at QUT for Semester 1, 2021. You will need to meet the minimum entry requirements for your desired course including the English language requirement.
If you are completing or have completed an Australian year 12 program in 2020 you should submit an application for admission to an undergraduate degree at QUT through QTAC. If you are having difficulty paying the application fee, please contact the Equity Scholarships team.
If you are not completing an Australian year 12 program in 2020 you should submit an application for admission to an undergraduate degree directly with QUT using the International Student Application. The application fee of $100 will be waived if you have provided evidence of your visa status as part of the scholarship application.
Completing the application form
To apply, complete and submit the QUT Asylum Seeker Tuition Fee Scholarship application form and supporting documentation.
Make sure you follow the instructions to supply all relevant supporting documents by the closing date. A list of required documents can be found at the end of the application form.

What happens next?
We'll assess your application and score it against our selection criteria.
We allocate scholarships based on need. Students with the greatest need will receive the scholarships.
When will I know the outcome of my application?
If you apply and submit all documentation by 15 January 2021, we'll let you know the outcome by 29 January 2021.
You must receive an offer for an undergraduate course and enrol internally at QUT in Semester 1, 2021. Before we pay your tuition fees and Equity Scholarship, we'll check your enrolment status to ensure you are still enrolled and eligible.
