Whether you're an aspiring leader or an experienced executive, our MBA programs will help you reach your full leadership potential to create a positive impact in your organisation and community.

Offered by the Graduate School of Business, these scholarships support leaders from diverse backgrounds and industries to gain their MBA or Executive MBA.

Women in leadership excellence

Aspiring female leaders with demonstrated academic, personal, and business acumen will be equipped to develop their full potential with a 100% tuition fee waiver for an Executive MBA.

The Women in Leadership Excellence scholarship is supported by UN Women Australia to encourage diversity and promote gender equality and women in leadership roles.

Female executive leaders

Supporting women who are in executive leadership roles or aspiring leaders to expand their skillset and lead with confidence. This scholarship is a 25% or 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Female entrepreneurs

Empowering women who are driven by innovation and passionate about shaping the future of business. This scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Indigenous leaders

Designed for Indigenous Australians who are in leadership roles or are aspiring to be leaders within their organisation or community. Leadership roles can be cultural, educational, community-based, or professional. This scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Not-for-profit leaders

This scholarship aims to assist leaders who are directly employed within the not-for-profit sector to further empower their communities and address significant social, economic and environmental challenges. This scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Paralympians and Olympians

Designed for current and former Paralympians and Olympians to expand on their unique skillset as elite sportspeople or explore new opportunities beyond their role as athletes. This scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Applicants from low-income households and backgrounds

This scholarship relieves some of the economic cost and supports students from low-income households to complete postgraduate study. Eligibility for this scholarship requires the applicant to be a current recipient of income support through Centrelink. This scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver for an MBA or Executive MBA.

Scholarships will be distributed across the eligible programs at the discretion of the QUT Selection Panel.

There is a limit of one (1) scholarship award per applicant.

All scholarship waivers apply to unit fees only. Student amenities fees and study tour costs are not included.

MBA Scholarships

To apply for an MBA Scholarship, you must submit the following application artefacts prior to the advertised closing date and time, and complete your application for the MBA or Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

  • A cover letter addressed to the Selection Panel, containing a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words outlining your membership to one or more of the scholarship categories, and what you hope to achieve by completing the MBA program.
  • You must submit separate applications if you are applying for more than one scholarship.
  • First Nations applicants who have not previously verified their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent with the QUT Oodgeroo Unit, and who are applying for an identified scholarship from the list above, must also complete the Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent (CATSID) process to determine eligibility. Please send the CATSID coversheet (DOCX file, 33.5 KB) with your documentary evidence to information.oodgeroo@qut.edu.au
  • Scholarship applications for the MBA are submitted to mba@qut.edu.au

Executive MBA Scholarships

To apply for an Executive MBA Scholarship, you must submit the following application artefacts prior to the advertised closing date and time, and complete your application for the Executive MBA or Executive Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

You will need to include a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words about your capabilities and skills in the areas listed, to support your application.

  • A cover letter addressed to the selection panel, containing a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words outlining your membership to one or more of the scholarship categories, and what you hope to achieve by completing the Executive MBA program.
  • You must submit separate applications if you are applying for more than one scholarship.
  • First Nations applicants who have not previously verified their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent with the QUT Oodgeroo Unit, and who are applying for an identified scholarship from the list above, must also complete the Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent (CATSID) process to determine eligibility. Application Deadlines

  • Apply by 9am, Monday 15 July 2024 for the MBA September 2024 intake.
  • Apply by 9am, Monday 18 November 2024 for the Executive MBA (Brisbane) January 2025 intake.

What happens next?

The scholarship selection panel will assess your application based on:

  • the degree to which you meet the scholarship profile
  • the documentary evidence provided to support your case
  • your personal statement of no more than 1,000 words
  • your work history
  • detailed CV
  • referee reports.

We'll contact you to let you know if you've been shortlisted. This may take a few weeks.

If you're shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an interview with the panel.

After your interview, we'll let you know if your application is successful. If it is, we'll send you a letter with confirmation and further details.

Conditions

You must:

  • maintain a passing grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 or above throughout your studies (with the exception of graduate certificate students who must achieve a minimum GPA of 4.5 to articulate into the MBA or Executive MBA)
  • get approval if you're deferring your studies for more than one teaching period
  • agree (if applicable) to articulate directly from the graduate certificate program to MBA or Executive MBA program
  • maintain satisfactory course progress and fulfill the course requirements
  • agree to assist the Graduate School of Business to promote these offerings by providing testimonial and being available for speaking engagements as required, throughout your program.

The tuition fee waiver:

  • applies to unit fees only (student amenities fees and study tour costs are not included)
  • is for the time limit of your course completion. Any leave of absence or other approved leave that you take will be included in calculating time limits
  • does not apply to units that you might take outside the MBA or Executive MBA program
  • does not apply to units that you fail or withdraw from with financial penalty.

Those who are unable to meet these conditions, as per their scholarship agreement, will forfeit their entitlements.
