What you'll receive
You'll receive assistance to apply for either of:
- Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend (Domestic)
- International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) (International).
The current RTP scholarship rate is $27,082 per year (2018 rate), indexed annually, tax-free for three years with a possible six month extension in approved circumstances. A top-up scholarship ($5,000 per annum) may also be available.
If successful, you will have the opportunity to participate in an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) project, ‘New mathematical models for capturing heterogeneity of human brain tissue', under the supervision of DECRA Fellow, Dr Qianqian Yang.
The aim of the project is to identify novel biomarkers to characterise normal and diseased brain tissue using fractional calculus and diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. You will receive training in development and validation of new mathematical models for MRI signal diffusion.
We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic science graduate, ideally with a major in mathematics or physics.

- demonstrate excellent capacity and potential for research.
Evidence of your research ability through publication output in peer-reviewed international journals is desirable.
China Scholarship Council Scholarship holders are welcome to apply.
