What you'll receive

You'll receive a scholarship of up to $15,000 to contribute towards the total cost of tuition fees and travel to attend an international leadership event. You will need to cover any additional expenses above the scholarship amount.

International travel

In the event that international travel restrictions ease, the successful candidate must meet the government requirements for travel (including full vaccination for COVID-19 and quarantine periods, if mandated).

Program options

In the event that international travel is not available, courses offered by international providers in a blended delivery mode, incorporating virtual sessions and travel when permitted, will be acceptable.

Eligibility

You must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  • be from a rural or regional background, work in rural or regional Australia, or your work contributes to the rural or regional sectors
  • be a QUT Business School graduate
  • have 10 or more years' experience working in business
  • be currently working as a senior officer, executive, business unit leader, or business owner at a private company, public company, or nonprofit organisation
  • meet the entry requirements to attend the international women's leadership event of your choice and be accepted to the event.

What happens next?

Our panel will shortlist applications based on the selection criteria.

If you are shortlisted, we will invite you to attend an interview with the selection panel. The scheduled date for interviews is set for Friday 24 November, 2023 (is subject to change).

We will send you written confirmation of the outcome of your application whether or not you are successful.

About the scholarship

The Laurie Cowled Scholarship for Women in Leadership aims to foster the education of rural and regional women to ensure that they can make an outstanding difference to the future of Australia.

Each year, this scholarship helps support a QUT Business School graduate to attend an international leadership event or experience. This is an ideal opportunity to expand and enrich management and leadership skills and interact with successful business leaders from around the world.
