What you'll receive

The Deloitte First Nations Internship program is a paid placement (4-8 weeks depending on location), based in any of our 10 offices nationally. The program provides Australian First Nations university students with professional capabilities and experiences related to their field of study by focusing on learning, building and maintaining strong connections and by providing meaningful opportunities for students to give back to the community through their work.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this program you must be:

  • be a permanent resident of Australia
  • be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • be enrolled in tertiary studies as at the commencement of the internship
  • demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills
  • be a team player with an innovative approach to work and life
  • demonstrate motivation for continuous learning and development.

How to apply

Applications for the Deloitte First Nations Internship program are accepted online.

Applicants must attach documentary evidence of additional material that they believe will support their application. These should include:

  • a cover letter detailing:
    • motivations for applying for the internship
    • how the internship will further support the applicants academic and career goals
    • what qualities and attributes (e.g. community involvement, career aspirations, other interests) the applicant will bring to Deloitte
    • what goals the applicant will look to achieve as a result of participating in the Internship program
  • current resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
  • current academic transcript
  • certified documentation supporting your Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • proof of work rights (passport or birth certificate).

Please note that applicants will be asked to select their preferred business unit. Further details around each of our business units can be found in the student pathways handbook.

All applications must be submitted by close of business, Friday 21 August 2020.

What happens next?

Once the selection process is complete, you'll be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. If your application is successful, you'll be called before receiving a formal, written notification.

Conditions

If successful, you will need to enter into a binding agreement with the Oodgeroo Unit at QUT, which specifies the conditions of your internship. These conditions require you to:

  • maintain a 4.0 grade point average
  • submit results and confirmation of continued enrolment promptly at the end of each semester
  • defer for no more than 12 months during the study period (if applicable)
  • maintain active communication with the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT at all times
  • attend the official Internship presentation ceremony
  • give consent to photographs being taken for the purposes of promotional activities including media, webpages by the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT and Deloitte.

The program provides Australian First Nations university students with professional capabilities and experiences related to their field of study by focusing on learning, building and maintaining strong connections and by providing meaningful opportunities for students to give back to the community through their work.

Penultimate year students studying a Bachelor’s degree with majors / minors in Management, Economics, International Business, Technology, Psychology, Accounting, Finance, Science, Mathematics, Law or Management are encouraged to apply. At Deloitte, we provide the right kinds of tools and training to ensure our Interns can achieve career success through personalised mentoring, coaching, peer support and wellbeing benefits. Interns will be eligible to apply for a Graduate position upon completion of the internship.

No prior work experience is required, however we do seek candidates with passion and drive that are looking to further develop a career in Professional Services.
