What you'll receive

You'll participate in a six-month placement program that provides you with professional capabilities and work experience in your field of study.


To be eligible for this program you must be:

  • of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide a Confirmation of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Descent form stamped with a Common Seal belonging to a registered organisation
  • a permanent resident of Australia
  • in your second, third or penultimate year of a Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Mathematics, Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology)
  • enrolled at QUT at the census date
  • studying full-time with grade point average of 4.0 or better
  • studying either externally or on-campus.

You'll be highly regarded if you also display:

  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • involvement in extra-curricular activities
  • an innovative approach to work and life and are a dynamic team player
  • motivation for continuous learning and development.

How to apply

You must:

  • complete the Deloitte Indigenous Internship application form (DOCX file, 747.8 KB)
  • provide proof of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander heritage status
  • submit a written response of 500 words or less per question answering, in your own words:
    • what factors influenced you to undertake your university degree and how the Deloitte Indigenous Internship will further support your academic and career goals
    • what qualities and attributes (e.g. community involvement, career aspiration, interests and motivators) you will bring to the Deloitte Indigenous Internship Program
    • the three main goals you look to achieve from completing the Deloitte Indigenous Internship

What happens next?

Once the selection process is complete, you'll be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. If your application is successful, you'll be called before receiving a formal, written notification.


If successful, you will need to enter into a binding agreement with the Oodgeroo Unit at QUT, which specifies the conditions of your internship. These conditions require you to:

  • maintain a 4.0 grade point average
  • submit results and confirmation of continued enrolment promptly at the end of each semester
  • defer for no more than 12 months during the study period (if applicable)
  • maintain active communication with the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT at all times
  • attend the official Internship presentation ceremony
  • give consent to photographs being taken for the purposes of promotional activities including media, webpages by the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT and Deloitte.

About the scholarship

The Deloitte Indigenous Internship is a six-month placement program providing QUT students with professional capabilities and work experience in their field of study.

Students will fulfill a work placement of one to two days per week to combine study and work in their chosen field. There will be the potential for employment at the completion of the Internship program.
