Meet our speakers
Dr Michael Gabbett
Dr Michael Gabbett is the course co-ordinator for diagnostic genomics at our School of Biomedical Sciences. Michael is a qualified paediatrician and clinical geneticist with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has masters degrees in clinical epidemiology and health management. Michael’s clinical knowledge and skills ensure our diagnostic genomics programs are relevant and contemporary for testing real-world patients.
Associate Professor Ignacio Correa-Velez
Associate Professor Ignacio Correa-Velez is the postgraduate public health course coordinator in our School of Public Health and Social Work. He teaches chronic conditions prevention and management, and public health practice, and supervises masters and PhD students. His areas of research include refugee and migrant health, mental health, health inequalities and social determinants of health.
Divya Dwarakanath
Divya Dwarakanath from India has a great passion about public health and its impact on the community. Fortunately, QUT’s structured postgraduate program, involving a combination of occupational, environmental and public health units, matches Divya’s needs. Her current PhD program with the Allergy Research Group at QUT explores grass pollen exposure and its impact on environmental public health.
Before her PhD, Divya completed a Master of Health, Safety and Environment (Environmental Health) at QUT, where she undertook a 240-hour placement with Metro South Public Health Unit. Currently, she is working as a national communication officer with Environmental Health Australia
