The Master of Education Double Major allows you to specialise in two fields of expertise in two years. The combinations of double major options provide the opportunity for you to choose a suitable pathway to strengthen your career as a professional in education.

Early Years and Inclusive Education

Ideal if you wish to work with children from birth to year three and specialise in assisting those who require additional needs in an inclusive classroom setting.

Early Years and General Studies

Expand your knowledge of working with young children, their families and communities and have the option to choose an additional four units from the masters course to complement your specialisation pathway. For the General Studies option you will not obtain a study area but will be awarded a Master of Education.

Inclusive Education and General Studies

This course is for teachers and allied professionals who wish to gain knowledge of the theories, current research and implications for instructional practice related to supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities in inclusive classrooms. It also allows you to enhance your career path by choosing an additional four units from the masters course. For the General Studies option you will not obtain a study area but will be awarded a Master of Education.

Leadership and Management, and Early Years

Gain advanced knowledge in leadership and management, including leading and managing people, strategic management, and managing change along with learning about contemporary childhood issues.

Leadership and Management, and Inclusive Education

Ideal for people who are current or aspiring leaders in educational settings. Become a leader with specialist knowledge and skills in supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities in inclusive classrooms and schools.

Leadership and Management, and General Studies

Focus on enhancing your leadership capacity within the field of education. The General Studies option also allows you to create your own pathway by choosing four additional units from the masters course. For the General Studies option you will not obtain a study area but will be awarded a Master of Education.

STEM in Education and Inclusive Education 

This course is for teachers and allied professionals who wish to gain knowledge of the theories, current research and implications for instructional practice related to supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities in inclusive classrooms. It also allows you to improve your pedagogical knowledge in STEM and develop a transferable set of skills that will give you a wider range of career options.

STEM in Education and Early Years 

More than ever students need to be prepared for rapid technological and social change, gain the skills you need to provide learning experiences that will prepare them for the 21st century. This course will expand your knowledge of working with young children, their families and communities. The STEM component will deepen your understanding of STEM in Education and allow you to enact change in a range of settings, including early childhood contexts. 

STEM in Education and Leadership and Management

Develop the skills you need to lead change in education. Improve your knowledge of STEM in Education so you can transform teaching in schools or other educational environments. Gain advanced knowledge in leadership and management, including leading and managing people, strategic management, and managing change. 

STEM in Education and TESOL 

Prepare yourself for a professional career in English language teaching with specialised knowledge and practical TESOL skills. Extend your knowledge and explore possible pedagogical implications such as application of technology to second language learning. Improve your pedagogical knowledge in STEM and develop a transferable set of skills that will give you a wider range of career options.

The TESOL component of this double major will extend your knowledge and explore possible pedagogical implications such as application of technology to second language learning. These studies are enhanced with advanced understandings of leadership and management.

TESOL and General Studies

Prepare yourself for a professional career in English language teaching with specialised knowledge and practical TESOL skills complemented by an additional four units from the masters course. For the General Studies option you will not obtain a study area but will be awarded a Master of Education.

TESOL and Early Years

Ideal for teachers who want to further their specialisation in teaching English as a Second Language and to specifically work with children aged from birth to eight years old.

Academic entry requirements

A completed recognised:

  • bachelor degree (or higher award) in education; or
  • bachelor honours degree (or higher award) in any field; or
  • bachelor degree in any field plus 5 years of related professional work experience.

Limited places

There are limited Commonwealth Supported places in this course. Places are likely to fill early so you are encouraged to apply for this course as soon as possible to secure a place.

Course fees

Your actual fees may vary depending on which units you choose. We review fees annually, and they may be subject to increases.
