Future You STEM Summit is coming to you in 2021!

The summit will take place in Brisbane and Townsville in September.

In December, we will be delivering events in Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Cairns and Mackay .

Summit details

Following the success of the STEM Camp for the last eight years, we are excited to announce that this year QUT will be delivering the Future You STEM Summit for high-achieving Year 11 and 12 students in September and December.

The Future You STEM Summit is set to teach students the importance of a STEM mindset, helping to guide a new generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators to build the jobs of Australia’s future.

Featuring inspiring keynotes and interactive sessions, students will have access to real-world, industry-aligned learning to shape their mindsets and skillsets as they plan their own career pathways.

The summit is free to attend for eligible participants.

Any travel or accommodation costs associated with attending the summit are the responsibility of the student and are not funded by QUT. Students who travel more than 50km to their closest summit venue may be eligible for fuel compensation.

What to expect

The summit will kick off on Tuesday in all regions with an immersive quintessential QUT program, enhancing students’ career aspirations to ultimately pioneer change within the world around them.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature two jam-packed days of interactive workshops designed to inspire, engage and upskill students learning across our core streams of entrepreneurship, innovation, robotics, sustainability and data science.

Friday morning will finish with a special guest Chief Scientist of Australia, Dr Cathy Foley. Students will have an opportunity to connect with like-minded students from across Queensland and also hear from industry leaders about how they use their STEM mindset everyday.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in our ever-popular entrepreneurship challenge, learn about pathways and careers in STEM, hone their leadership skills, and network with people currently working in STEM industries.

Meet STEM Ambassadors

Connect with current QUT STEM students

Activities throughout the experience will be led by our STEM Student Ambassadors, who are current QUT students. They're always happy to have a chat about their studies, their future plans and ambitions, and what uni student life is like, so take the opportunity to learn from their experiences.

QUT Scholars Program

All summit students are inducted into the QUT STEM Scholars program.

QUT Scholars program offers:

  • access to apply for the QUT STEM Scholars Academic Scholarship
  • access to the QUT Scholars virtual Facebook hub
  • QUT Ambassadors career advice
  • invitations to exclusive STEM events and activities
  • opportunities to assist QUT with user-testing of programs and workshops.

Eligibility requirements

To be accepted into this program, you must:

  • be a current Queensland Year 11 or Year 12 student
  • demonstrate you received 1 or more A’s in at least one STEM subject in the past 12 months
  • Ask your teacher, head of department or principal to provide a recommendation (provide their email address and they will be sent a request to complete an online recommendation)
  • be able to attend the entire summit.


All summit events are subject to current Queensland restrictions and locations and timings may change at any time. Regional summit locations require a minimum number of eligible participants to proceed. QUT does not take responsibility for any costs incurred due to the restrictions.

We won't consider applications that don't include all of the required documentation correctly. Current STEM Scholars are not eligible to apply. The panel's decision is final.
