Real student story

'I was eligible to receive a QUT Equity Scholarship in my first year of university which proved very beneficial. By having the extra money I was able to balance work and uni balance by not having to take on too many hours that could disrupt my studies. The scholarship was also very helpful for my transition from Sunshine Coast to Brisbane. In my first year I first commuted to uni so I was able to spend the money on transport. I was also able to afford textbooks and student fees. In high school, paying for school expenses was a huge stress for me as I couldn't take on much work due to school, extra-curricular activities and also balancing family time. Having this scholarship made uni life less stressful and helped me to balance a busy lifestyle'.—Samantha Ballinger, business and creative industries student
