QUT offers one of the few specialised property courses in Australia. Property economics at QUT is concerned with all aspects of property: investment, asset management, development, valuation and research, with a focus on finance and the commercial property market sector. You will gain hands-on, practical experience to supplement your theoretical knowledge.
Real-world experience
'I gained valuable work experience during my time at QUT. I secured a part time property analyst position as part of my work integrated learning. Thanks to the career mentor service, I also worked as a student research assistant before I graduated. The strong analytical and critical thinking skills I developed built a solid foundation for my professional career. I am currently working in Malaysia as an assistant valuer and property manager at a local consultancy firm. The practical work experience I gained during my studies was definitely a stepping stone to where I am now.'
Hands-on learning
'As an investment analyst at QIC's Global Real Estate team, I am jointly responsible for one of the fund's largest retail centres valued about $1 billion. My role is extremely fast-paced and requires frequent travel due to our assets situated around the globe. The diversity of the degree and curriculum was a huge highlight for me, and led to an extensive range of career outcomes. Given that property is the largest commodity in the world, there is so much more you can do outside of being a real estate agent.'
