Getting prepared

Travelling to Brisbane

Once we have confirmed your acceptance, you will need to start getting ready to come to Brisbane. We recommend that you arrive 2 weeks before your course starts so that you have enough time to find accommodation and settle in. Make sure you notify us of your address once you arrive.

We have an optional airport reception service that can pick you up from the airport when you arrive.

We offer an accommodation service and we can help you find somewhere to live.

Pre-departure briefings

Our international student mentors organise pre-departure briefings in several countries. This is a great opportunity for you to meet a current QUT student and learn more about living in Brisbane.

We'll email you details of pre-departure briefings towards the start of semester.

Arriving late for semester

If you're not going to be able to start uni by the date on your offer letter, you'll need to apply for a new start date. You must apply in writing to QUT International Admissions at qut.intadmission@qut.edu.au

Support for international students

Moving to a new country can be a big change. We support international students to make the transition to living in Brisbane and studying with QUT. We can support you with:

  • pre-arrival information and airport reception
  • international orientation
  • adjusting and settling into life in Australia
  • bringing your family
  • accommodation and homestays
  • advice and counselling
  • financial assistance
  • social trips and activities.

Contact International Student Services at issadvice@qut.edu.au to see how they can help your international study journey.
