Science and Engineering

School of Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering

About the school

Our research focuses on innovations in health, the environment, and sustainable resources, in areas ranging from the development of new medical treatments and devices to the identification and assessment of pollutants and air quality.

We deliver a quality learning experience to students by integrating our world-renowned research into our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.

Staff

Our expert team of researchers and teaching staff, including Head of School and discipline leaders.

Biomedical engineering and medical physics discipline

Our research focuses on clinical problems of the musculoskeletal system, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, as well as biomechanical studies and imaging.

Energy and process engineering discipline

We work to refine, renew and modify raw materials to produce useful products and by-products. We develop efficient and sustainable processes to improve business operations and profitability.

Environmental technologies discipline

We advance knowledge to develop new materials and green technologies for environmental remediation and monitoring, with a focus on air, water and soil quality monitoring.

Mechanical systems and asset management discipline

Our research contributes to fundamental understandings in a broad range of fields, and offers novel approaches to tackling a variety of important, real-world problems.

Molecular design and synthesis

Our work examines the generation of new molecules and materials and the study of their chemical and physical properties, with outputs in advanced manufacturing technologies.

Nanoscience discipline

We examine the novel and complex behaviour of matter spatially confined on the scale of nanometres, with the goal to develop and advance technologies that are used to address challenges faced by society.
