Olivia Hutchinson, a graduate engineer with premier sponsor Boeing Australia, is a Dean's Scholar alumnus and recipient of the prestigious Kindler Medal which recognises outstanding engineering students. As part of the Dean’s Scholars program, Olivia completed an internship at Boeing Australia's subsidiary Insitu Pacific.
Saskia Mathers, a current Dean’s Scholar and computer and software systems engineering student, is a Women in Engineering scholarship recipient and past president of Women in Technology (WiT) at QUT. Saskia has used her experiences in the program to build networks with sponsors and combine her advanced digital capabilities with her leadership experiences and passion for STEM.
Brody Foy, a QUT mathematics graduate and past Dean's Scholar and Rhode's Scholar, is using his PhD to apply his maths skills to computational biology, specifically lung function testing. Brody has also co-founded a non-profit consultancy that uses data analysis and machine learning to solve problems in healthcare, energy and social services.
Dean's Scholar alumnus and PhD student Naomi Paxton is the first winner of the Ezio Rizzardo Polymer Scholarship, worth up to $35,000, for her collaborative work with industry to find better ways to 3D-print body parts. A passionate STEM student, Naomi also received the Women in Technology Life Sciences Young Achiever Award and the CSIRO Alumni Scholarship in Physics Award.
