Our Banyo Pilot Plant Precinct in Brisbane's north facilitates structural, mechanical and electrical testing, geological analysis, aquaculture research, and product testing and validation.

Mackay Renewable Biocommodities Pilot Plant

The Mackay Renewable Biocommodities Pilot Plant converts plant materials into renewable transport fuels (bioethanol), green chemicals and other bioproducts. With industry partners we develop new industrial processes and commercial products using biomass feedstocks.

Medical Engineering Research Facility

Our Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF) is designed to meet Australia's emerging needs in orthopaedic and artificial organ research. Located at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane's north, MERF provides a comprehensive suite of research and training facilities.

Microgravity Testing Facility

We boast the only teaching, research and microgravity testing facility in the Southern Hemisphere making us a global leader in research on the phenomena and effects of microgravity in various research disciplines.

Paediatric Spine Research Group

The Paediatric Spine Research Group (PSRG) is a successful collaboration between our scientific and research expertise and the clinical skills and experience of the spinal orthopaedic surgeons at Mater Hospitals. The group aims to conduct quality research into the clinical and biomechanical aspects of paediatric spinal deformity and other spinal disorders to ensure these patients receive the best management possible.
