Tactical Response Robots
The OzBot Titan is part of the Queensland Police Service’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT). These robots work alongside specially trained police officers to provide law enforcement with a tactical advantage without placing lives at risk.
The company who developed these robots is BIA5, a start up company that specialises in designing and manufacturing advanced robotics systems to enhance the capability of law enforcement, the military and private security firms. Their robotic systems have been designed in partnership with Deakin University’s Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI). BIA5 also collaborate with CSIRO Data61 as part of the DARPA challenge in the US and the Australian Army. For Robotronica BIA5 will be demonstrating the OzBot Titan as well as other sophisticated robotic systems such as their Long Range Optics and Nova Tactical Lighting Systems. The flexibility and sophistication of their systems can be applied to other sectors including mining, hazardous area inspections and agriculture.
The Queensland Police Service’s Special Emergency Response Team SERT will demonstrate their 300kg OzBot Titan at 11am, 12pm and 1pm, which can break down doors and help get hostages out of dangerous siege situations.
