Somayeh Hussaini, QUT Mechatronics Engineering honours student
Somayeh began her education at the age of nine in a makeshift ‘underground’ school in Iran. She attended her first day of formal school at the age of 17, after her family were accepted into Australia as refugees. She graduated at the top of her class just a few years later and is now a fourth year engineering student at QUT, receiving recognition for her academic achievement and student leadership. Somayeh is passionate about actively encouraging high school students to embrace the opportunities offered in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) as a QUT STEM Ambassador. She is currently completing a software engineering internship at Deswik, a global consulting and technology company.
