Australian floral resources and pollen harvesting by honey bees

Commercial pollination services are rapidly expanding for crops such as almonds, blueberries and avocados, with hundreds of thousands of hives transported across the east and south of Australia each season.Floral resources around the apiary are critical to maintaining the strength and health of these bee colonies. This project will work in the QUT experimental apiary at SERF to determine the floral resources available in the landscape and the foraging activity of bees in commercial standard hives.
