Towards equity in transport and justice initiatives for disadvantaged people and communities

Travelling safely, which underlies access and connectedness, key to positive health, education and employment outcomes, is often taken for granted. Yet many low socioeconomic, disadvantaged groups across Australia struggle to gain a driver licence or have access to public transport. Half of Australia’s prison population have a disability. Correctional facilities have an opportunity to help people who require health care to recover, and by doing so, increase their likelihood of living independently and not re-offending.
