Overview


Semi-continuum method is a method for bridge deck analysis, which is rigorous buy economical in computer usage. SECAN 2018 is a developed program based on the method. SECAN 2018 could only be executed under pre-Windows 10 environment. This project aims to improve SECAN 2018 (with source codes provided) so that it could be executed under Windows 10. Besides, the semi-continuum method will be compared with other bridge deck analysis methods like grillage and finite element methods. Some knowledge of structural analysis and computer programming is expected.

Research activities

  • Improvement of SECAN 2018 so that it can run under Windows 10
  • Case studies of Bridge Deck Analyses using Semicontinuum method as compared to Grillage and Finite Element Methods.

Outcomes

This project aims to improve SECAN 2018 (with source codes provided);so that it could be executed under Windows 10. Besides, the semi-continuum method will be compared with other bridge deck analysis methods like grillage and finite element methods.

Skills and experience
