Overview

The development of safe and reliable fast charging protocols for electric vehicles is an important area of research. Necessary power electronic converters and control mechanisms need to be developed so that battery packs experience minimal degradation during fast charging.

Research activities

As part of the research project, you'll model a battery system in MATLAB or Simulink. Afterwards, you'll develop a charging protocol that would be safe and reliable.

Outcomes

The major outcome of this project is to create a protocol that can be used by the battery industry for fast battery charging with minimal battery degradation. The associated development of power converters and control methodologies are also important.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this project you'll need to have an excellent background in mathematical modelling using MATLAB or Simulink.
