Overview
This project aims to investigate using drones to conduct pre-bushfire assessment for buildings in bushfire prone areas.
Both traditional on-foot and drone-based condition assessments will be conducted for the selected buildings. We'll compare the effectiveness and efficiency of traditional pre-bushfire condition assessment to UAV-based technology assessments.
Further, the project will investigate how we can utilise UAV-based captured data in bushfire prediction, mitigation planning and evacuation
Research activities
During the research project, you will:
- review the process for pre-bushfire condition assessment methods
- conduct on-foot and UAV-based survey for selected buildings in Queensland
- investigate using drone-captured data for better bushfire planning and prediction.
Outcomes
The study will contribute towards developing guidelines to use advanced technology in pre-bushfire condition assessments of buildings.
