The project will investigate the fire behaviour of selected light steel floor systems aimed at delaying board fall-off. It will involve fire tests of small scale floor assemblies (1.2m x 1.2m) to understand how they behave in fire and determine their fire resistance levels and/or associated thermal simulations using available FEA/CFD software.
We're looking for civil and mechanical engineering students with an interest in:
- structural and fire testing
- numerical modelling.
During this project, you'll:
- review previous research at QUT and learn test and modelling methods
- conduct small scale fire tests and numerical modelling
- analyse the results and write reports.
The study will contribute towards developing fire resistant light steel floor systems.
