Construction workers are more susceptible to suicide than non-construction workers in Australia.

Statistics shows that the average suicide rate per 100,000 people between 2001 and 2013 for male construction workers was 24.6 compared to 13.4 non-construction workers. Only limited research has been done on this area.

Dr Carol Hon has been awarded an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Discovery for Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) to investigate this research area (2019-2022).

Students joining her research team will be given exciting research training and interdisciplinary research collaboration opportunities.
