To integrate the clinical and biomechanical aspects of trauma research.


  • To develop an internationally recognised trauma research profile based at Princess Alexandra Hospital facility, in collaboration with QUT through its Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation;
  • To engage in and provide leadership for biomedical and orthopaedic trauma research;
  • To provide research training relevant to traumatology;
  • To develop educational programs for both orthopaedic surgeons and biomedical engineers in the clinical practice of orthopaedic trauma and the application of engineering principles and technology in Orthopaedics; and
  • To facilitate the acquisition of competitive grants and industry sponsorship to support research in traumatology.
