A PhD position is available to work in an interdisciplinary research project. This PhD will be located in the Creative Industries Faculty and is offered to candidates who are interested in conducting research in the areas of:

  • service design
  • self-service technologies (SSTs).

About the project

Your work will take place in the context of a larger project (an ARC Linkage project), which will provide a rich research environment that will contribute to research methods training and mentoring throughout your PhD candidature. You will conduct qualitative user research on a topic related to young people with physical disabilities' use of emerging technologies to self-help manage diverse aspects of their daily life, one of them being accessing employment. You will draw on the qualitative and quantitative findings from the ARC project to inform your research work on the design of future self-service technologies. Likewise, it is expected that findings from your research will inform the ARC team's project.
