Researchers in our international law and global governance law program critically examine legal arrangements and regulatory institutions that address global challenges.
The International Law and Global Governance Research Program hosted a workshop to examine what a rights-based approach to climate change involves and how it could best be implemented.
Dr Saiful Karim is a lead author of a multidisciplinary report on the state of biodiversity in Asia and the Pacific. The aim of the report is to help governments frame future policies for biodiversity conservation.
Dr Felicity Deane's book, Emissions trading and WTO Law, A Global Analysis, examines the potential global impacts of emissions trading frameworks and how they interact with World Trade Organisation law.
Co-Program Leader Dr Rowena Maguire's research focuses on international environmental regulation and the rights and responsibilities of indigenous and community groups.
Emily Darling researches in the field of international refugee law. Her current research examines refugee family reunion in Australia and the differentiation in access according to the mode of arrival.

We explore innovative legal, market-based and theoretically informed policy responses to the threat posed by climate change, and other contemporary environmental challenges. Our research examines the international, transnational and national dimensions of these issues.

Our focus is on rights-based approaches to civil and political issues such as privacy, religion, freedom of speech and rights in times of conflict. We also investigate socio-economic rights pertaining to topics such as the environment, employment and families.
