Our centre

High impact research

Our research leads to a better understanding of how commercial and property law fundamentals interact to improve legal and regulatory frameworks. We focus on improving the understanding of policy makers, legislatures and market participants about the role of commercial and property law concepts and principles in solving global challenges. Our research includes:

  • effective regulation of financial and emerging markets, like carbon trading
  • the role of property rights in sustainable management of natural resources
  • effective processes for dealing with insolvency and restructuring after financial collapse.

Our ongoing collaborations with industry and government place us in a unique position to respond to these global challenges. We have an extensive track record of research leading directly to reform of property law, insolvency law and competition and consumer laws with state and federal governments.

Research themes

Our three research themes respond to identified global challenges:

  • market regulation and reform
  • property law reform
  • insolvency and restructuring.

External engagement

Our members have research links locally, nationally and internationally, with a range of organisations including universities, government agencies and private sector bodies.
