It takes more than a pandemic to stop university aspirations. So kick COVID to the curb and log on to the QUT Virtual Open Day on August 29-30.
This year’s QUT Virtual Open Day two-day event will provide an opportunity to access information on courses and careers and chat live with QUT staff and students from the comfort of your own home.
There will be more than 50 virtual booths to visit and an amazing 240 videos to view, including 360-degree tours of QUT facilities (such as this 360 look at QUT's music studios, pictured right).
QUT’s student recruitment team leader Sarah Griinke said staff had been working hard to make sure this year’s QUT Open Day experience was just as rewarding as ever for would-be students.
“Open Day will be different this year, but it is still absolutely the best chance to chat to real people and get your questions answered,” she said.
“There will be staff and students online doing live message chats and a webinar program to provide overviews for each faculty.
“Our suggestion is to register for the event and then, before the day, you’ll have access to exclusive on-demand videos and student stories. You can take your time and prepare questions so that when you log on for Virtual Open Day you’ll know what webinars you want to join and which booths to visit for the courses you are considering.
“There will also be information booths on student life, support services, scholarships, admissions, fees, overseas exchanges, accommodation, and much more.
“At each booth there will be people to chat to and you can also download information and watch videos.”

Visit www.qut.edu.au/open-day. Make sure you register before the day and we’ll send you details about how to access the event.
Who can I talk to?
QUT staff and students will be available to chat online at 50 virtual information booths.
I don’t know what course I want to do yet – is Open Day still for me?

Will you provide snacks and music?
We wish! But you’re right, atmosphere is important – so grab some popcorn, put some music on and rally your friends and family as support.
What if I can’t log in?
Be patient – if at first you don’t succeed at logging into the event, take a break, top up your snacks and try again later. Most virtual events have a maximum number of users who can log on at any time. Explore the videos, student stories and course information on the QUT website while you wait.
I’m super busy that weekend – what are my other options?
There’s tonnes of information on QUT and its courses online – visit www.qut.edu.au/study. This month (August 17) we’re also releasing exclusive, on-demand videos and student stories, course information and tours of the facilities.
