QUT Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Margaret Sheil AO has announced the appointment of Leanne Harvey as the university’s new Vice-President (Administration) and Registrar.

Ms Harvey will take up the position on 17 December, 2018.

Professor Sheil said Ms Harvey’s appointment followed an international recruitment process.

“Ms Harvey has been a public sector leader of some 30 years and, for the past eight years, has been the Executive General Manager of the Australian Research Council (ARC),” Professor Sheil said.

“In her role at the ARC, Ms Harvey introduced major reforms including introduction of the Excellence in Research for Australia initiative which the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development has recognised as state-of-the-art.”

Professor Sheil said Ms Harvey currently leads the ARC corporate services and has acted as ARC Chief Executive Officer for extended periods of time.

She said Ms Harvey, who also has extensive prior leadership experience in the then Department of Education, Science and Training, would bring to QUT her unique blend of knowledge of the higher education sector, corporate governance and extensive experience of leading change in the public sector.
