QUT has recognised the invaluable contribution of Professor Robina Xavier to the QUT Business School by appointing her its new Executive Dean.

Professor Xavier will bring her considerable depth of experience as Head of QUT's School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations for six years to the demanding executive role.

QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake said QUT was delighted to appoint on this occasion an academic from within QUT who had demonstrated her ability to lead one of the largest and most complex portfolios in the QUT Business School.

"We are fortunate to be able to entrust the reputation of QUT Business School as one of the world's pre-eminent business schools to Professor Xavier's stewardship," Professor Coaldrake said.

"QUT Business School was the first business school in Australia to earn all three international accreditation symbols of excellence from the world's leading accrediting bodies and we are fully committed to retaining this position of excellence."

Professor Xavier has more than 20 years' experience in the tertiary sector and, as Head of School, has had responsibility for four undergraduate and five postgraduate business discipline areas with multi-campus and multi-modes of delivery.

She has played a key role in the development and implementation of the QUT Business School's internationalisation strategy with a major focus in the Asian region.

Her teaching and research focuses on crisis communication and shareholder communication. She has received a Citation from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council and is a past president of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

Professor Coaldrake said Professor Xavier's appointment also aligned with QUT's Blueprint commitment to support women in executive roles and to renew its workforce for the future.
