A selection of works by some of Australia's best emerging contemporary artists has opened to the public this week at QUT Art Museum in a showcase exhibition for 'the churchie' national emerging art prize.

The annual prize was announced on Saturday night at the gallery on QUT's Gardens Point campus in Brisbane and went to African artist Pierre Mukeba who now lives in Adelaide.

He won the $15,000 main award for a series of works, including James 2:10 (pictured below) and Psychological Trauma (pictured right).

He was interviewed on the night by Popsart (see Facebook live video below) about his win and his experiences growing up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that influence his art.
