Drivers don’t ignore a ringing phone but do ignore the risk: Drivers find it difficult to ignore a ringing phone but they do ignore the dangers, with a new QUT study revealing almost 50 per cent believe locating and answering a ringing phone is not as risky as talking and texting.

- Brisbane Times and ABC Online reported on the world-first surgery with a 3D-bioprinted shinbone, made possible with QUT’s biofabrication research and modelling.
- Education and autism researcher Jo Stephens featured on ABC Radio’s PM in a story about the benefits of assistance animals.
- The Courier-Mail interviewed Dr Mark King from CARRS-Q about new licensing for autonomous cars for a national story.
- The Courier Mail featured former student-turned-entrepreneur Carly Brown and her Une Piece rashie which is being sold in 38 countries.
- Associate Professor Anthony O'Mullane’s opinion on new lithium-ion battery design was sought by ABC Science and also ran on website NZ City.
- The Australian featured a story on the She Flies drone education program supported by QUT to interest girls in STEM subjects.
- Dr Matthew Flynn was interviewed by Seven News Brisbane about the Queens Wharf precinct and jobs growth.
- QUT Business Leaders' Forum with former Aurizon boss Lance Hockridge was covered by The Courier-Mail.
- Associate Professor John McMurtrie bendable crystals continued gaining coverage with Fairfax publications, including The Age as well as a top 10 awesome list on Science Alert and Gears of Biz.
- Michael Riddle’s new public sculpture (pictured) for Melbourne’s Peninsula Link freeway was covered by 7 News Melbourne, 3AW, News Corp, ABC Melbourne Breakfast, and local papers including Mornington Peninsula News.



- Associate Professor Felipe Gonzalez and the IFE’s research into new ways to monitor coral bleaching was reported by UAS Vision, 7 News Townsville and Research Career.
- Associate Professor Gary Mortimer talked about Aldi pushing into cheap homewares in SmartCompany, New Daily, and MSN Australia, and spoke to ABC Radio Brisbane, ABC TV Queensland and TripleJHack (in at 20:57) about a pending ban on single-use plastic bags.
