Drivers don’t ignore a ringing phone but do ignore the risk: Drivers find it difficult to ignore a ringing phone but they do ignore the dangers, with a new QUT study revealing almost 50 per cent believe locating and answering a ringing phone is not as risky as talking and texting.

- Professor Monika Janda (pictured) and her new study to detect suspicious skin cancer using “mobile dermatoscopes” ran on Nine News Australia-wide.
- The ACRV’s Sue Keay (and Pepper the robot) featured in a Q&A in The Weekend Australian Magazine.
- Dr Indira Prasadam and Professor Yin Xiao were in a 7 News story on QUT research into 3D printing and arthritis.
- Associate Professor Wendy Scaife from QUT’s ACPNS spoke to 3AW and ABC Radio Perth about the latest Giving Australia report.
- A Brisbane teen entrepreneur who creates holograms and will headline next month’s Creative3 conference hosted by QUT CEA was on ABC NEWS.
- Brisbane Times and ABC Online reported on the world-first surgery with a 3D-bioprinted shinbone, made possible with QUT’s biofabrication research and modelling.
- Education and autism researcher Jo Stephens featured on ABC Radio’s PM in a story about the benefits of assistance animals.
- The Courier-Mail interviewed Dr Mark King from CARRS-Q about new licensing for autonomous cars for a national story.
- The Courier Mail featured former student-turned-entrepreneur Carly Brown and her Une Piece rashie which is being sold in 38 countries.
- Associate Professor Anthony O'Mullane’s opinion on new lithium-ion battery design was sought by ABC Science and also ran on website NZ City.
- The Australian featured a story on the She Flies drone education program supported by QUT to interest girls in STEM subjects.
- Dr Matthew Flynn was interviewed by Seven News Brisbane about the Queens Wharf precinct and jobs growth.
- QUT Business Leaders' Forum with former Aurizon boss Lance Hockridge was covered by The Courier-Mail.
- Associate Professor John McMurtrie bendable crystals continued gaining coverage with Fairfax publications, including The Age as well as a top 10 awesome list on Science Alert and Gears of Biz.
- Michael Riddle’s new public sculpture (pictured) for Melbourne’s Peninsula Link freeway was covered by 7 News Melbourne, 3AW, News Corp, ABC Melbourne Breakfast, and local papers including Mornington Peninsula News.

- Associate Professor Felipe Gonzalez and the IFE’s research into new ways to monitor coral bleaching was reported by UAS Vision, 7 News Townsville and Research Career.
- Associate Professor Gary Mortimer talked about Aldi pushing into cheap homewares in SmartCompany, New Daily, and MSN Australia, and spoke to ABC Radio Brisbane, ABC TV Queensland and TripleJHack (in at 20:57) about a pending ban on single-use plastic bags.
- A study by Judith Singleton, Esther Lau and Lisa Nissen about pharmacists and the impact of medicines on the environment was reported by the Australian Journal of Pharmacy.
- Dr Lucy Cradduck was quoted in a Courier Mail article on how the ageing population will see the demand in retirement villages rise dramatically over the next two years.
- The Guardian wrote about a State Government-funded mural tribute to The Saints, which has been driven by QUT’s John Willsteed and Christy Collis.
- Dr Helen Vidgen was quoted in The Australian in a story about the best ways to tackle obesity.
- Dr Marisha McAuliffe spoke to 2UE about retail lighting tactics.
- News that QUT is hosting next year’s MIT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp ran in the Southern Star.
- Professor Matthew Rimmer discussed changes to Twitter’s terms of service on Hit 105 and talked to ABC Radio National about appropriation in art.
- Professor Jane Shakespeare-Finch was interviewed on the ABC’s TripleJ Hack program about the Burning Man festival tragedy.

- Professor Rebekah Russell-Bennett and Dr Ryan McAndrew’s Conversation piece about using hedonism to address binge drinking was republished by Daily Bulletin.
- Radio National’s Future Tense chatted to Dr Monique Mann about robot cops.
- Dr John Colwell talked to 4ZZZ about plastic shopping bags (Sept 9, at 45mins 30secs).
- ZDNet mentioned Belinda Ward’s Pepper social robotics program in a story about the Queensland Government’s new digital strategy.
- Nanotechweb reported on Dr Kateryna Bazaka’s research into increasing the effectiveness of antibiotics by treating molecules with plasma.
- Style and fashion blogger Melissa Hoyer featured the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival held at QUT’s Old Government House, which included QUT fashion students and alumni.
- Professor Paula McDonald was interviewed about the childcare workers’ strike by Radio Adelaide’s The Wire.
- Associate Professor Michael Dezuanni featured in the Crinkling News regarding a media literacy conference for children, also discussed on ABC Radio Sydney.
- Dance Australia ran an article about the National Dance Forum quoted Ausdance National President, Professor Gene Moyle.
- BNE Magazine ran a story on an airport guide for people with dementia, developed by the QUT-based Dementia CRC: Carers and Consumers.
- Dr Judith Howard spoke to Mix FM about trauma aware schooling.
- Professor Marilyn Campbell spoke to ABC Radio Canberra about a girls’ school that’s created “failure week” to teach resilience.
- Traveldudes talked through the pros and cons of solo travelling with Adjunct Professor Constanza Bianchi.
- Malaysia’s Sun Daily profiled filmmaker and QUT fine arts graduate Sabah's Nadira Ilana.
- Stuff.co.nz profiled acting graduate Alice Foulcher, who’s debut feature film is being screened in Australia.
