16th January 2017

QUT is once again the university of choice for more than 25 per cent of all QTAC applicants and in 2017 has made around 12,800 QTAC offers to students for places across its three campuses.

QUT Registrar Ms Shard Lorenzo said QUT made 4,800 offers to students today (January 16) which followed more than 3,700 offers made between October and December, and 4,300 offers just prior to Christmas when the Queensland Year 12 results were released. She added that a further QTAC offer round would occur on February 2.

“More students across the board placed QUT as their first preference and we feel our focus in STEM engagement and state-of-the-art facilities have played a key role in this,” Ms Lorenzo said.

“QUT is considered one of Australia’s best universities and consistently ranks highly in global higher education rankings which make us a very desirable option for prospective students.

“We are seeing high demand for maths, information technology and business degrees at QUT’s Gardens Point campus, and double degrees are also attracting a lot of interest again this year.

“At our Kelvin Grove campus, the health sciences are all performing strongly, and the new Creative Industries Precinct has attracted enormous attention from prospective students. Our Bachelor of Creative Industries was one the top six choices at QUT this year and new students will find themselves working in ground-breaking arts, media and design spaces when they commence.

“At Caboolture meanwhile, strong numbers in education, creative industries and nursing will see a vibrant campus community in 2016.”

Students may enrol immediately and Ms Lorenzo urged prospective students who have received an offer for a place at QUT in this round to accept their offer as soon as possible through QTAC.

She added that there were still limited opportunities to gain a semester one place at QUT across all faculties and campuses.

“If you are considering a new application or want to change preferences for semester one then I recommend you to apply to QTAC now for the February offer round,” Ms Lorenzo said.
