QUT academic wins Prime Minister's Literary Awards Poetry prize: Acclaimed Brisbane poet Sarah Holland-Batt has been awarded the prestigious 2016 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry.

- Creative Industries academic Sarah Holland-Batt was interviewed on the ABC's RN Books & Arts program after winning the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards prize for Poetry, with ABC Online also covering the win.
- QUT Business Leaders Forum guest speaker Carnival Australia chief executive Ann Sherry (pictured) featured in a Courier-Mail article on the Brisbane cruise sector and2016 QUT BLF Ann Sherry 004 was mentioned in the paper's City Beat column.
- QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake told QWeekend magazine universities must ensure graduates have the skills needed for the future workplace.
- Dr Federic Maire featured on ABC News regarding artificial intelligence helping build a neural network to search for dugongs. His work was also on Digital Trends and International Business Times.
- Professor Ross Young and the Real Health of the Nation survey were in probonoaustralia and Aged Care Insite.
- QUT Business School's Professor Uwe Dulleck told News Limited Donald Trump would have a strong impact on the world and, most importantly for Australia, on the Chinese economy.
- Associate Professor Molly Dragiewicz joined a discussion broadcast by ABC RN’s Big Ideas on what progress has been made in tackling domestic violence
- The Australian Financial Review asked Professor Peter Corke how robotics would affect future jobs.
- Dr Matthew Dunbabin and Dr Feras Dayoub’s COTSbot research received coverage in Nature World News.
-  The Conversation published a piece by Professor Marilyn Campbell that argued kids who watched porn wouldn’t necessarily turn into sex offenders. The article also ran on ABC Online, The West Australian, in Viw Magazine Australia and Daily Bulletin.Dr Gary Mortimer, QUT
- Associate Professor Gary Mortimer (pictured) told SmartCompany that electronic payments were leading to the death of the five cent coin (which costs six cents to make). He also told Daily Mail Australia Aldi was helping shoppers by giving them more product options.
- Dr Haifei Zhan and his diamond nanothread discoveries featured in DNA India.
- Professor Tom Cooper and researcher Kim Alexander’s work bringing the YuMi deadly maths program to regional schools in South Australia was in the Port Lincoln Times.
- Dr Bill Lott did his usual spot on ABC Radio Overnights discussing genetic screening, deep vein thrombosis and personalised medicine.
- Susan Hetherington did her regular segment for ABC Capricornia which included the genetics of fussy children. She also had her regular spot talking about theatre on ABC Brisbane Breakfast.
- Dr Louise Grayson published a photo essay and article on The Conversation to mark Remembrance Day. Her photos of the Western Front were juxtaposed with photos she took on the granite belt where many WWI veterans were resettled.  It was republished by the Daily Bulletin.
- The South East Advertiser promoted the QUT Vice Chancellor’s STEM camp which fosters a love of science and technology.
- Bill Kwiecien spoke with ABC Radio Drive program about the health risk of asbestos in soil and water.
- Associate Professor Kirsten Vallmuur’s ladder falls research featured on ageing website The Donaldson Sisters.
- Electronics Online published a story on Brisbane’s first ever public access Internet of Things (IoT) network, thanks to a partnership between QUT, IoT integrator Meshed and IoT community The Things Network.
- The Fifth Estate wrote about universities building greener buildings and cited the open-air style refurbishment of D Block at QUT’s Gardens Point campus.

- ABC TV and ABC Online spoke to Dr Rebecca English (pictured) about home schooling in Queensland.
- Professor Monika Janda explained to outlets including Healthday why some people may be more genetically vulnerable to melanoma.
 - The nomination of QUT donor Laurie Cowled as a Queensland finalist for the 2017 Senior Australian of the Year was covered by newspapers including the Sunshine Coast Daily.
- The Sunday Mail and regional press including the Mackay Daily Mercury reported QUT would sign an agreement with Sumitomo Electric Industries into the potential for a concentrated solar photovoltaic demonstration project in Queensland.
- Peter Black was on 612 ABC Breakfast for his regular Tuesday morning technology segment and talked about “drone hunters” for airports and the Slack office chat app.
- The Phnom Penh Post reported on QUT and Handicap International’s involvement to promoting journey access for people with disability in Cambodia.
- Salomon Lukonga’s bid to start a charitable fashion line with the help of QUT’s Fashion Accelerator program was covered by The Queensland Times.
- QUT researchers Melinda London and Penny Williams spoke to 4EB Radio about how organisations support people to access flexible work.
